Q&A

Lip Enhancement

There are four components that are necessary to address when creating beautiful lips.

Definition: To enhance the demarcation between the skin and the lip. In some the demarcation is already obvious and the definition is not necessary. Inserting filler at

the border of the lip and skin is very safe and hence most practitioners inject filler just in this area. This increases the bulkiness of the borders leading to duck lips.

Hence it is important to address the definition only if necessary.

Volume: The art of creating a youthful lip is to increase volume. It is quintessential to maintain the proportions and the ratios between the upper lip and the lower lip.

The lower lip is usually 20% more than the upper lip a line drawn from the chin to the tip of the nose should be 2 millimetre in front of the lower lip.

Symmetry: The 3rd component to address with lip enhancement is the symmetry of the lip. The symmetry should be maintained at rest, with a smile both with closed

lips and open lips.

Lip Turn: It is crucial that the edges of the lips are upturned rather than down turned. This avoids the sad look of the face. Inserting filler in the right place will enhance the angle of lip giving a happy look to the face and also open up the edges of the lip. Occasionally we combine treatments with BoNTa to achieve the best results.

Initial and a careful examination of all four components of the lip, allows us to use the filler in the appropriate place to enhance the lip and achieve natural beauty.

Lip Botox:

Anti-Wrinkle injections to the lip can be administered to reduce the fine lines around the lip and also to elevate the angles of the lip.

Elevation of the angles can be achieved with the first injection by relaxing the muscles that pull the angles of the lip down.

Fine Wrinkles will need a few doses of Botox and the lines will get better over a period of time. We cannot paralyze the muscles completely as they are functional muscles and just not expressive muscles as on the forehead.
